These opportunities can be designed to fit your groups’ interests, timeline, and budget. The courses listed below are examples of private and public workshops that have been offered through local businesses and organizations. You can also schedule a private session of our regular class offerings.

In this ongoing herbal education program the members of Mandy’s Farm are becoming familiar with a variety of common herbs and how to use them for everyday health and wellness. Topics include herbal foods, hygiene products, skin care, first aid, relaxation, sore muscles, the common cold, gardening, plant identification, and gift making. These classes take place at the Appaloosa Art Space and can be customized to be part of your group’s program. Contact me to inquire.
All high school kids from grades pre-9 to pre-12 are invited to learn about the cultural geography and traditional plant uses of The Gila through classroom slideshows and lectures, hands-on activities, and field hikes. The 6-day field course takes place in at The Trail End Ranch Field Station in the Gila Wilderness and includes an introduction to herbalism and regional geography, identification of local plants, a field trip to a Mimbres cultural site, making plant preparations, herbal first aid, exploring ethical topics for field herbalists, wild foods, and connecting with wilderness. Students will also create their own field guides during the course and will bring home samples of their hand-made herbal remedies. This class is offered through the Albuquerque Academy and students must apply for acceptance into the program.
Learn about herbs that promote relaxation, stress reduction, and general wellness. Sample infused herbal oils and creams for healing skin and deep tissue aches and pains. Make your own personalized bath salts to take home for a private relaxation session after class. This class has been offered for the University of New Mexico. This 4-session experiential herbalism series is designed specially for kids, parents, and siblings to discover local medicinal plants and how to make simple herbal remedies together. The series includes a wild herb walk, classroom sessions with slideshows and discussion, garden planting, and multiple hands-on herbal remedy preparations. Each registered child will take home a calm balm and glycerite in addition to various herbal edibles prepared and consumed in class. Classes are designed for children aged 6 to 12, but can be adapted to varying ages. Each session is 2 hours.
