Nutrition Focused Herbalism

Nutrition Focused Herbalism

Our nutrition is vital to our well-being, so often it can become stressful, confusing, and conflicting depending on the information we see and hear. In this class we will shed some light on the basics of nutrition (metabolism, calories, mico and macronutrients) and how we can meet our nutritional needs with the help of herbs, roots, seeds, fruits, and veggies. We will discuss how some herbal remedios like fire cider support our immune system by providing nourishment that we need, how we can create our own electrolyte drinks to help avoid dehydration and how some of our favorite cultural foods, like salsa, are so much more than just a side dish. We will discuss this while considering that nutrition is very nuanced; we all have different nutritional needs, likes, capacities, and that it is possible for herbalism to help support and improve our nutrition.

Students will receive a PDF class handout and a sample of Fire Cider and a Fire Cider spice blend (local pick-up only).
