Addressing Trauma with Practices of Mexican Traditional Medicine

Traditional Mexican medicine, or curanderismo, has a rich history of healing practices which address the effects of stress and trauma.

This class will cover a brief history of Mexican and Mexican American curanderismo and introduce some of the key concepts that inform our cultural healing practices. We will also talk about the impact of trauma on the mind, body and spirit and learn how herbal medicine can support our healing. We will also learn a few traditional practices of curanderismo such as baƱos (herbal baths) and limpias (spiritual cleansings) that we can do for ourselves or loved ones to support our recovery and resilience from the impact of stress and trauma.

There will be an herbal product available for local pick up in Albuquerque after class.
