Building Connection with the Seven Sacred Directions and Associated Plant Allies

In this in-person course, students will explore the deep connection between herbalism and the 7 Directions: East, West, North, South, Sky, Earth and Heart/Self. Students will learn how each Direction holds wisdom and energy that can guide a deeper understanding of themselves, how to live in harmony with each of the Directions, and how herbal practices can be our biggest allies in doing so. Throughout this course, students are guided to reconnect with their own lineage and Ancestral ways in connection to the 7 Directions, the plants and associated seasons, while learning about the general energetics of each of them.

The course will include teachings on the spiritual aspects of herbalism, including how to connect and build deeper relationships with plant allies and connecting with the energetics of yourself and plants during each of the seasons. Ceremonial practices will be woven throughout the classes to honor the plants, the Directions and the relationship between nature and self. Students will engage in a variety of activities including, movement, song, meditation and hands-on work with herbs.

The semester series also includes registration for all three of these in-depth, one day specialty topics:

Additionally, this course includes two field classes:

  • a field trip in the Rio Grande Bosque focusing on plant identification, medicinal uses, and land stewardship;
  • a morning of field work doing native medicinal plant restoration and habitat improvement with the Yerba Mansa Project (optional and open to the entire community);

The cost for semester enrollment includes all 3 of the single-day specialty classes, all of your supplies, field trips, medicinal plant restoration experience, access to 5 instructors, and 31 hours of knowledge sharing.
